Ways to Connect

Discover how we value relationship at City Line

In a culture of great mobility and multiple priorities, creating and maintaining meaningful relationships can be difficult. This is even more the case when it comes to spiritual friendships. The good news is that Jesus desires for us the kinds of relationships that we desire for ourselves – relationships in which we experience growth, belonging, honesty, and joy.

While there are no shortcuts to forming good friendships – it takes time and commitment and a willingness to open up – City Line intentionally creates spaces for relationships to deepen.

LIFE GROUPS

THE PURPOSE of Life Groups is to be a place where we can encourage and support each other in our walks of faith, as well as have fun and do life together. Our hope is that everyone at City Line will feel personally connected to our church community through Life Groups.

A TYPICAL GROUP is six to twelve people who get together on a regular basis (either weekly, bi- weekly, or monthly) to do life together. Every group can customize how frequently they gather and how they structure the time based on their schedules and interests. Groups may spend time in group Bible discussion, prayer and accountability, or fellowship through meals, games and outings.

SEMINARS & RETREATS

THE PURPOSE of our seminars and retreats is to help us as a community grow deeper in our knowledge of God, his Word, and how we might live as followers of Jesus. They’re also great places to connect with one another at City Line!

In the past, our seminars have focused on a variety of topics, including faith and work, parenting, and marriage.  And our annual church-wide weekend retreats have focused on topics such as contentment, anxiety, community and spiritual friendship.

TO LEARN MORE about upcoming seminars and retreats, please see our Announcements page.

MEN'S/WOMEN'S EVENTS

THE PURPOSE of these events is to create a place for deeper connection as men and as women in the church.  In the past, we’ve hosted summer women’s Bible studies, women’s brunches, men’s breakfasts, and men’s prayer groups.

TO LEARN MORE about upcoming men’s and women’s events, please see our Announcements page.

COLLEGE STUDENT EVENTS

THE COLLEGE YEARS are an exciting time of growth and preparation - academically, socially, vocationally, and in so many other ways.  Not only are you getting ready for what you’re studying for, but how you live during school also shapes who you will be after you graduate.

City Line is a church for students who want to grow spiritually and even prepare for a whole lifetime of following Jesus.  During the school year, we host a variety of student-specific events, including prayer retreats, service opportunities, and care during exam periods.  See our Announcements page for updates regarding these.

We also invite and encourage students to participate in the broader life of City Line - whether that’s by participating in Sunday worship, serving in one of our various ministries, or connecting at a church-wide event.

MEMBERSHIP

ALL THROUGHOUT THE STORY OF THE BIBLE, we see a God who is faithful.  He is not fickle with humanity, and he does not enter into and step out of relationship simply as he pleases.  Instead, he makes covenants. Covenants are commitments or vows where God binds himself to a promise that he makes to his people.

Membership at City Line is meant to follow this same pattern.  When someone becomes a new member, they get to imitate God by entering into a committed relationship with the church, and by allowing the church to commit itself to them.  It is in the safety and security of this commitment that our roots begin to sink more deeply into community, and stronger relationships form.

For more information about our membership process, please contact Ryan Egli.

SERVING

WE ARE ALL MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD with the creative capacity to do great things.  Through the Holy Spirit, we are given gifts for the purpose of building up the Church and contributing to the work of Jesus in bringing restoration to our world.  And so it is a great privilege, and an affirmation of our created worth, that Jesus invites us to serve with him.

At City Line, there are a variety of established ways for getting involved in serving within the church, as well as with the church towards others.  If, however, you’d like to create a new avenue, please feel free to contact Ryan Egli and let him know!
